Last week we got the official press release of the September 29th premiere date for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury as well as confirmation of David Yost joining the cast.
This week, Netflix released their monthly “New on Netflix” video for September 2023 which includes a brief cut of new footage from Cosmic Fury.
Thanks to a leak from Netflix Life, we also have new production stills from the Netflix Media Center. Please note that according to the picture’s file names, it looks like these images were supposed to release starting September 1st. We reached out to Netflix’s Press Contact for Power Rangers, but have not heard back at the time of publication of this article.
Synopsis The newest installment in the Power Rangers saga, Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury follows the team from Power Rangers: Dino Fury who embarks on a new journey into outer space. As they navigate their way through this new territory, they will uncover new Cosmic abilities and work together to fend off the return of the infamous villain Lord Zedd and save the universe.

Hasbro’s entertainment studio, eOne, today announced that Power Rangers Cosmic Fury will debut exclusively on Netflix on September 29, 2023, bringing the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers cast member, David Yost, to the galactic-themed series as his original character, Billy Cranston. Fans can watch and listen to the show’s brand-new theme, composed and arranged by Bert Selen to prepare them for Cosmic Fury’s out-of-this-world experience.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury welcomes you to outer space! For the first time in nearly three decades, Power Rangers is entering into a third season with the same core cast of Rangers: Russell Curry (Zayto); Hunter Deno (Amelia Jones); Kai Moya (Ollie Akana); Tessa Rao (Izzy Garcia); Chance Perez (Javi Garcia); Jordon Fite (Aiyon) and Jacqueline Joe (Fern). The Dino Fury Rangers are going to space with new powers, new costumes, new weapons, and, of course, new Zords! As a core character, appearing in all ten episodes of the series, Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston played by David Yost will assist the Cosmic Fury team in fighting Lord Zedd. Celebrating 30 continuous years on the air, Power Rangers has become one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with more than 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series celebrates its 30th year with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, an anniversary special now streaming exclusively on Netflix. To further commemorate the iconic franchise’s three decades, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury will also land on Netflix on September 29.
According to 1News New Zealand, Hasbro is ending production of Power Rangers in New Zealand after 20 years.
In a statement, Hasbro didn’t say why production was ending, but fan speculation and tweets from executive producer Simon Bennett and writers like Becca Barnes over the past few weeks seems to point to Cosmic Fury being the last live action tv series in the current iteration.
I was not confirming any such thing. I should have added ‘for me’ after ‘opportunities’.
“We are committed to keeping Power Rangers fresh by reimagining the brand and how we bring our entertainment content to life for our consumers”, a spokesperson said.
“We’ve been in communication with teams to ensure they are set up for success in their next adventures”, a Hasbro spokesperson said.
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with such incredible and talented teams in New Zealand and plan to keep close for any future projects that may be a fit for Power Rangers or across any other of our future entertainment productions”.

With 25% tax breaks for filming in New Zealand as well as generating more than $340 million for the local economy, it’s hard to imagine Power Rangers without the setting, crew and cast of New Zealand. Some crew have been with the show for 20 years, including VFX Supervisor Carol Petrie, who was kind enough to be interviewed by Ranger Command back in 2014.
The future remains unclear for Power Rangers after Cosmic Fury, aside from a potential reboot from Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein.

Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury is the first time since the TV series launched in 1993 that the entire Ranger team will return for a third season. For Power Rangers, Hasbro announced the newest Deluxe Wave of the Lightning Collection: IN SPACE SILVER RANGER 6-INCH ACTION FIGURE and TURBO BLUE SENTURION 6.6-INCH ACTION FIGURE.

One of the entertainment reveals was introduced by Kai Moya who plays Ollie Akana in Power Rangers Dino Fury and Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. After missing the Hasbro PulseCon Dino Fury panel, he got to reveal his suit for the Cosmic Fury Blue Ranger!
Also revealed was the cast line up for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Special.
