NEWS – Hasbro and Playmates Toys Enter Strategic Relationship to Produce and Distribute Power Rangers Product Globally Starting in 2025

HASBRO AND PLAYMATES TOYS ENTER STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP TO PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE POWER RANGERS PRODUCT GLOBALLY STARTING IN 2025

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—April 22, 2024— Hasbro, a leading toy and game company, today announced a global licensing agreement with Playmates Toys, a global toy design, development, marketing and distribution company, to produce and distribute POWER RANGERS product. Playmates is debuting its first POWER RANGERS collection with a kid targeted MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS toy line in 2025.

As part of the agreement, Playmates holds licensing rights to develop additional cross-category POWER RANGERS products, including action figures, blasters, plush, role play, vehicles and accessories. The deal encompasses global distribution across all regions excluding Asia.

“We are honored to work with Hasbro on the reimagination of this iconic franchise’s toy line for long time fans and a new generation of children. Playmates and Hasbro speak the same toy language and share a passion for POWER RANGERS, a multi-generational phenomenon that has stood the test of time,” said Karl Aaronian, Playmates’ SVP of Marketing.

Hasbro will retain all entertainment rights and will continue to drive global strategy and growth for the POWER RANGERS franchise by strategically working with licensees across multiple categories, including publishing, fashion and footwear, promotions and more. Hasbro will also further activate the brand across their direct-to-consumer channel Hasbro Pulse and as part of its presence at major industry events like San Diego Comic Con.

Celebrating 30 continuous years on the air, POWER RANGERS has become one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with more than 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, the series celebrated its 30th year in 2023 with MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: ONCE & ALWAYS, an anniversary special streaming exclusively on Netflix. The most recent season of POWER RANGERS, POWER RANGERS: COSMIC FURY, is currently available exclusively on Netflix.

NEWS – Hasbro Sustainability Packaging Update

Last July, Hasbro first announced their Plastic-Free Packaging initiatives for all of their toy lines. It seems that in the almost year since, fan response has led Hasbro to reverse this decision and bring back windowed packaging, but with sustainable plastics.

Tonight, we received an email from our Hasbro contact.

Hi –

We wanted to share an update on packaging for Hasbro’s 6-inch-scale figures. Based on your feedback, we will be re-introducing windows and blisters to our 6-inch fan figures beginning later this year, into 2024 for select products across our portfolio of brands, including, G.I. Joe Classified, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, Star Wars Black Series and Marvel Legends. This will eventually expand to all new 6-inch figure releases.

The new windows and blisters will be made from bio PET or recycled PET helping us achieve our priority of meeting our fans’ expectations for extraordinary packaging and superior design while still developing packaging that minimizes waste and the use of virgin plastic.

 Thank you again for being one of our biggest fans and for your continued support of Hasbro.

The Hasbro Selfie Series experience is headed to CES Las Vegas January 5-8!

Located inside the Formlabs booth #54217, members from the Hasbro Selfie Series team will be on site to walk CES attendees through the experience of face scanning and the opportunity to create and purchase your own custom figure in your likeness.

Using proprietary software and in partnership with Formlabs, Hasbro gives fans a chance to digitally transform themselves into a collector-grade 6-inch action figure based on classic to current characters seen across popular films, television series and comics. From morphing into a Power Ranger or silently stalking Cobra as Snake Eyes, fans can indulge in the ultimate consumer experience with Hasbro Selfie Series figures.

CES 2023 attendees interested in transforming themselves into a premium, one-of-a-kind Hasbro Selfie Series action figure should visit the FormLabs booth, Booth #54217, to register for an assigned 15-minute time slot. The introductory price of Hasbro Selfie Series is $59.99. Attendees who participate on site at CES will receive $10 off at checkout.
