Road to SDCC 2019: Morphin Power Takes On Turtle Power In Historic New Comic Book Event

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 15, 2019) – BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. and in partnership with IDW and Nickelodeon, today announced an all-new five-issue limited series event –  MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! Written by Ryan Parrott (Power Rangers: Necessary Evil) and illustrated by Simone di Meo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Venom Annual), the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fight – and maybe team up with – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time in comic book history beginning December 2019.

The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver – AKA The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger – but soon discover he’s joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan! As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they’re confronted by another (fr)enemy – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!

New York Times bestselling author Ryan Parrott was one of the key architects of the landmark Power Rangers: Shattered Grid comic book event and currently writes both Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers at BOOM! Studios, along with creator-owned projects Volition and Oberon for Aftershock Comics.

“Honestly, I’m pretty certain keeping this project a secret has taken years off my life. These two iconic franchises were my TV parents, each teaching me valuable life lessons thirty minutes at a time. The Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles are too insanely awesome not to bring together. I mean, they’re both color-coded teenage martial artists who fight monsters! Simone di Meo is a comic book artist from Italy. He has recently worked as the artist on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for BOOM! Studios and Venom Annual #1,Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense, and Old Man Logan Annual for Marvel Entertainment.

Currently, Power Rangers is celebrating 26 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise celebrates its milestone anniversary year with the 26th season, Power Rangers Beast Morphers currently airing on Saturdays at 8 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S.

It’s Time for a Gold Rush! Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid v1.3 has been released! The most exciting part is the announcement of the Season 1 Season Pass characters, as well as the anticipated CROSS-PLAY and CROSS-PROGRESSION for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch!

Battle for the Grid v1.3 roster

San Francisco – July 10, 2019 – Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid v1.3 Update

We will be releasing our first two Season One characters: Trey of Triforia and Jen Scotts, which will be followed by Lord Zedd in a future update. Players can purchase each individual character digitally for $6.99 or the full Season One Pass for $14.99, which includes all three characters along with a bonus character skin.

Trey of Triforia: The original Gold Zeo Ranger, Trey was an alien from the planet Triforia who came to Earth to help the Zeo Rangers battle the Machine Empire. There, he was attacked and split into three separate beings, forcing him to temporarily transfer his Gold Ranger powers to veteran ex-Ranger Jason Lee Scott.

Jen Scotts: Jen Scotts assumed the role of leader of the Time Force when her fiancé, the Red Time Force Ranger, was killed by an escaping criminal named Ransik. Fearless, determined and compassionate, Jen and her team did everything they could to track down Ransik and bring him to justice.

Lord Zedd (Coming Soon): The self-proclaimed “Emperor of Evil,” Lord Zedd has conquered and enslaved much of the galaxy. Initially leaving the “insignificant” Earth for Rita Repulsa to conquer, he returns to punish her for her failure and finish what she started.

Jason Lee Scott – Red Dragon Shield (skin): After Tommy Oliver, the Green Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, was killed by Lord Drakkon, an evil version of Tommy from an alternate dimension, Jason inherited the Dragon Shield and Dragon Dagger. With their added strength and the ability to summon the Dragonzord, Jason was able to lead the other Rangers in the fight against Lord Drakkon.

Also available will be the second free update (v1.3) that introduces several previously unreleased features.

  • The v1.3 update vastly improves the game’s social play and matchmaking, including Direct Match, which lets friends or any two specific players match up against each other.
  • The game now also enables crossplay between Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, where players across the two gaming platforms can battle against each other in Ranked, Casual, or Direct Matches.
  • Crossplay helps players find matches faster against similarly skilled players and opens up a larger matchmaking pool, making the game more competitive.
  • Crossplay is enabled by nWayPlay, nWay’s recently announced game development platform, which offers a player ID and social system, allowing friends to find each other across platforms.
  • nWayPlay also enables cross-progression between Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, so players can carry progress made on one platform to another.

NEWS – POWER MORPHICON CONVENTION ANNOUNCES 2020 DATES AND LOCATION!

Ranger Command received the following press release for Power Morphicon 2020, the seventh incarnation of the largest Power Rangers convention. Read below for more details. 

Los Angeles, CA: Power Morphicon Convention, the world’s biggest Power Rangers Fan Convention announces its 2020 date and location. The convention is moving back to the Pasadena Convention Center, in Pasadena, California. Fans of the convention remember this location as the convention’s staple location since its second show in 2010, and will be excited to see that Power Morphicon Convention is taking over Pasadena once again!

Power Morphicon Convention will take place on Labor Day Weekend: September 4-6th, 2020.

The convention brings together the world’s largest group of celebrity guests tied to Power Rangers with numbers hitting over 200 individuals involved in the franchise. Power Morphicon Convention touts hundreds of vendors and artists selling Power Rangers toys, art, books, and apparel. Power Morphicon Convention will feature a full programming schedule, Photo Ops, contests and events, convention exclusive merchandise and more!

Full guest lineup TBA on Power Morphicon Convention’s website and social media. All guest appearances are subject to change and cancellation contingent upon the actors’ schedule and availability.
