LOS ANGELES, CA (March 13, 2020) – BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), today revealed a first look at a brand new one-shot special issue POWER RANGERS: RANGER SLAYER #1, from acclaimed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers writer Ryan Parrott, superstar artist Dan Mora (Once and Future, Klaus), colorist Raúl Angulo, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. This all-new one-shot, available in June 2020, features the villain turned fan favorite hero herself as she makes a choice that sets the stage for an epic event that reverberates throughout the universe!

The Ranger Slayer – AKA Kimberly Hart, the Pink Mighty Morphin Power Ranger from the alternate universe once ruled by Lord Dakkon – returns home and nothing is like she expected. In a world that remembers her as a villain, can Kimberly show her universe that she’s become a hero…and is that even the right thing to do? Confronted by an old foe in a terrifying new form and finding her home in chaos, Kimberly will make a stunning choice that no Power Rangers fan can miss.

Currently, Power Rangers is celebrating 26 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise celebrates its milestone anniversary year with the 26th season, “Power Rangers Beast Morphers” currently airing on Saturdays at 8 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S.

On Wednesday, February 26th, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 48 will be released from Boom Studios.

After the shocking reveal of the last issue, the Rangers are beset by enemies on all sides—even their own. Tensions mount between Tommy and Jason in the fallout over the Omega Rangers secret identities. Will the two teams be able to work together in time to defend against the next attack? Don’t miss the return of a fan favorite character!

Host Eric (@trekkieb47) had a chance to read the issue in advance and shares his review:

“Only a couple of months and a handful of issues remain before Necessary Evil ends. It’s no surprise by now who returns this issue, especially with the cover of this issue and the Ranger Slayer getting her own one shot in June. What is surprising is that this reveal isn’t even the biggest shock.

For readers who might have thought that Beyond the Grid was not what they wanted or liked, issue 48 starts to connect that narrative and universe with this one. There are revelations that will keep you thinking about the possibilities as you are reading.

There is a lot packed into the comic, but none of it feels bloated or pressed for space. There are two sets of character pairings that make you feel the emotional impact of tearing a team apart, and trying to live up to expectations. This is highly recommended reading, but I seem to say that for every issue. Guess I’m along for the ride!”
