Today, Wednesday, December 4th,  Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue 1 has been released from Boom Studios. Below you will find a preview of the issue as well as the main cover and variants.

THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS AND THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME!

The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver – AKA The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger – but soon discover he’s joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan!

As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they’re confronted by another (fr)enemy – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!

Written by Ryan Parrott (Power Rangers: Necessary Evil) and illustrated by Simone di Meo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Venom Annual), the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fight – and maybe team up with – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time in this over-sized issue includes 30 pages of story content!

Host Eric (@trekkieb47) had a chance to read the issue in advance and shares his review:

“Aside from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, there was only one other franchise from my childhood that stuck with me through the years. That was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I wore TMNT t-shirts, played the games in the arcade, watched the original cartoon and begged my parents for the action figures.

When the MMPR/TMNT crossover was announced, I was excited for all of the possibilities that could come from a team up like this. Months after the initial announcement, the first issue has finally arrived. And what a fantastic first issue it is!

First, if you aren’t caught up on Go Go Power Rangers or Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, don’t worry. This is a standalone miniseries not tied into the ongoing series. Think of it as taking place during the first season of the show.

Second, if you’re not a big Turtles fan… don’t worry. With the first few pages you know the personalities and dynamics of both teams. The parallels of both teams fighting their respective enemy grunts is the perfect framing device for introductions. Writer Ryan Parrott brilliantly injects the signature humor and tone for both teams. Every character has their own unique voice and really shows how alike both teams are at their core.

Artist Simone Di Meo returns to Power Rangers comics following the uneven run in Beyond the Grid. For this issue, the art is very dramatic and fast paced. The action scenes have weight to them… you feel every blow. In my opinion one of the most gorgeous panels was the first morph of Tommy into the Green Ranger.

With plenty of self referential in-jokes and amazing action sequences, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #1 is highly recommended for fans of either franchise. “

August 18th 2018 – ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: Just announced at the Official Power Morphicon Convention, a BRAND-NEW traveling version of Power Morphicon called POWER MORPHICON EXPRESS will be hitting the road. It will take the fun and excitement of the original Power Morphicon Convention and bring the largest official Power Rangers fan convention to life in a collection of new cities.

Power Morphicon Convention is the biggest and only officially recognized Power Rangers fan convention in the world since 2007. It has been led by veteran convention and show runner Scott Zillner since its second expo in 2010. Now after six explosively successful shows, Power Morphicon Convention is ready to take the express route.

Jason David Frank, best know as Tommy Oliver (the original Green Ranger and most popular and active actor over the course of the show’s 25-year run), will lead the show across various cities, making sure that everyone has the opportunity to get in on the Power Rangers Convention fun and adventures. Just like the large-scale show which takes place every two years in Southern California, Power Morphicon Express will give fans the opportunity to meet a collection of their favorite Power Rangers actors, hear them speak in panels, buy incredible merchandise in the vendor hall, and see Power Rangers inspired art by local artists.

Power Morphicon Express will hit the road in 2019 with its first stop scheduled in Pasadena, Texas.

The Power Morphicon Convention is celebrating its SIXTH show, the expo’s first at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The show is run by veteran convention artist and vendor Scott Zillner who annually puts on nearly a dozen shows in the Los Angeles and Sacramento areas including Japan World Heroes, a convention celebrating Japanese and Sentai related popular culture. Power Morphicon Convention has been held every other year since 2007, and Scott Zillner has been in control of the show since its second run in 2010. Since then, Power Morphicon Convention has been held consistently on even-numbered years.

Power Morphicon Convention hosts the largest number of actors and crew from the Power Rangers franchise, including artists and actors from the original Japanese Super Sentai series, upon which the Power Rangers television show is based. In addition to meeting their favorite actors from Power Rangers, fans and convention attendees will be able to purchase some convention exclusive merchandise. These special convention-only items are available for pre-order with your paid convention membership (attending or non-attending), or at the expo during the show. Items include the exclusive Lord Drakkon figurine (throne sold separately) and the black and gold Megazord Funko Pop! figurine. A convention-exclusive Power Morphicon Convention T-shirt is available for purchase, as well as metal Morphin’ Coins and specialized merchandise for Membership Tier.

TO EMPOWER YOUTH ACROSS AMERICA!

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 20, 2014) – Saban Brands announced today the Power Rangers Student Alliance, a new national program where students work together to bring the core values of the Power Rangers to communities across the country. The Power Rangers Student Alliance was inspired by the ‘Florida Ranger Coalition,’ a group of high school students who caught national attention by making mysterious masked appearances at children’s events and nonprofit fundraisers in Power Rangers Morphsuits. When these teens saw how much kids loved seeing the Power Rangers, they decided to work together to raise awareness of anti-bullying and teach the importance of reading. After learning about these exemplary young Power Ranger fans, Saban Brands decided to launch this new program to encourage students across the country to follow suit and start their own local Power Ranger teams.

The Power Rangers Student Alliance provides a framework and incentives to encourage young people to start local chapters at their own high schools, colleges and universities to give back to their communities and raise funds for charity, while demonstrating the core Power Rangers values of helping others, friendship and teamwork. The program was previewed at the 4th bi-annual Power Morphicon, the largest Power Rangers fan-run convention, in Pasadena, CA this past August. Members of the original ‘Florida Ranger Coalition,’ who kept their identities hidden until shortly after graduating high school, and have since publicly announced plans to build additional chapters on their college campuses, were invited to attend the convention and received VIP access to exclusive events.

“The Power Rangers Student Alliance initiative fits perfectly within our Power Rangers emPOWER program,” said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands. “We are inspired by the work of the ‘Florida Ranger Coalition’ and we hope with the launch of this program, we can further encourage their positive story and motivate other fans across all of Ranger Nation to get involved.”
