Studios has announced the MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #50 SECOND PRINTING, available August 5, 2020 and featuring cover art by superstar artist Dan Mora (Once & Future).

COMIC REVIEW – Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue 5

On Wednesday, June 17th, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue 5 will be released from Boom Studios. Below you will find a preview of the issue as well as the main cover and variants.

It’s the ultimate showdown between the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, up against the joint forces of Rita Repulsa and Shredder! Cowabunga!

Host Eric (@trekkieb47) had a chance to read the issue in advance and shares his review:

“MMPR / TMNT Issue 5 drops almost three months to the day of the previous issue. With everything happening in the world, comics are now more than ever an escape. The entire run of this series has been fun, full of energy and completely nostalgic. With new Megazord designs, Turtle Rangers and Ninja Rangers, this miniseries has felt like emptying a 90’s toybox and playing with the actions figures.

The art really shines in the issue, with a bright daytime setting in Central Park for the Megazord fight. It is a stark contrast to previous issues set at night and in the dark recesses of the Technodrome. This highlights the artwork of Simone di Meo, which we think is his best work to date for Power Rangers. Colorist Walter Baiamonte uses a very warm color scheme for most of the issue. The action pops on each panel.

Overall, this final issue is a great send off for both teams. The Turtles and Rangers work really well together, highlighting the lessons both properties teach: teamwork and friendship.

There is room for a sequel with something that happens in this issue that we won’t spoil. We hope that Ryan Parrott gets a chance to followup on this miniseries. You can tell he had a ton of fun writing it, ending on an upbeat moment for both teams. This is highly recommended!”

Here’s the synopsis:

This all-new series, scheduled to arrive in stores August 2020, finds Ranger Slayer – Kimberly Hart, Drakkon’s mightiest warrior – fighting against the deadly secrets of her former master’s legacy.

After the shocking events of Power Rangers: Ranger Slayer #1, Kimberly is determined to purge the terrifying hold that Drakkon has had over her world, starting with Deadlock; the prison tower where Drakkon held all those who opposed him. But even the Ranger Slayer has no clue of the true power kept in Deadlock—and what unlocking the doors will set into motion. Anthony Burch is a comic book, video game, web series, and television writer. He is best known for his work on the Borderlands 2 video game from K2 Games and his web series Hey Ash, Watcha Playin’? Burch also co-wrote the comic book series Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack with Jack Carpenter and wrote Rocko’s Modern Afterlife for BOOM! Studios.

“I’m extremely excited to spend time in the Power Rangers universe, especially in the Coinless timeline of Lord Drakkon!” said Burch. “I hope fans are excited about this slightly darker, more apocalyptic tale starring some of our favorite new characters…and maybe a few returning old ones.”

Simone Ragazzoni is an artist based in Italy. After attending the Milan Comics School, he collaborated with 7Gold TV channel and Edizioni BD, working as a freelance comic artist and illustrator. Since 2017, Ragazzoni has been a regular artist and colorist on Sergio Bonelli Editore’s sci-fi monthly series Odessa.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am for DRAKKON NEW DAWN! BOOM! Studios Announces Retailer Support Services Program Including Full Returnability Through June 2020

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to run its course around the world, many states are enacting shelter-in-place orders. Today, BOOM! Studios announced a Retailer Support program for comic book retailers that will be affected. According to the press release below, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Issue #51 will have a one-per-store variant. See below for the full press release.

UPDATE: With Diamond Distributors currently not shipping to comic book shops after April 1st, it is unknown how much of a delay there will be for future titles.

New Initiatives Take Effect Immediately to Support Local Comic Shops

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 23, 2020) – BOOM! Studios today announced the BOOM! Retailer Support Services Program, a comprehensive set of initiatives effective immediately to aid comic book shops worldwide affected by the current health crisis.

The BOOM! Retailer Support Services Program will initially deliver the following benefits to qualifying accounts pending details being finalized with Diamond Comic Distributors:

  • Full Returnability Through June: BOOM! Studios will extend the industry’s best returnability program, the BOOM! Guarantee, by making all items that ship between March 18th through June 24th fully returnable via affidavit in order to allow retailers to order with confidence. Any retailer not already enrolled in the BOOM! Guarantee can sign up for free right here.
  • #BoostYourLCS Paid Promotion: BOOM! Studios will increase targeted advertising and promotion around comic shops, and specifically spotlight stores offering Safe Services (like curbside and mail order options), using the #BoostYourLCS hashtag to reach over 360,000 fans worldwide.   • Rare Variant Cover Gift Set: BOOM! Studios will offer retailers a direct cash infusion by providing previously released rare and popular variant covers for free to qualifying Diamond accounts in April. For retailers who do not normally sell variant covers at an increased price, these can be used to reward loyal pull-box subscribers or used to further incentivize customer engagement as prizes or purchasing rewards.

  • Diamond Summit Variant: BOOM! Studios will deliver our promised free Diamond Summit retailer variant cover for Faithless II #1 to all qualifying stores in April so that retailers don’t miss out on this hotly anticipated issue.
  • Exclusive Convention Variant Opportunities: BOOM! Studios will offer select variant covers and other items previously planned for 2020 conventions direct to retailers through Diamond, as long as supplies last. Since fans can’t go to conventions, we’re bringing the conventions to the fans!

This program includes BOOM! Studios’ support and participation in future industry-wide, coordinated joint initiatives with Diamond Comic Distributors and other participating publishers to benefit and support comic book stores.
